Memorize

At church, Mike encouraged us to start memorizing scripture. I chose this selection at random based on a reading found in The Daily Word.

Deuteronomy 30:15-20 (New International Version)

See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction.
For I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the LORD your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.

But if your heart turns away and you are not obedient, and if you are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them,

I declare to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess.

This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live

and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Glen Burnie

On our travels, we went to visit our house in Glen Burnie MD.

As you can see, the house isn’t in very good shape. It looks like there was some kind of fire on the deck.

At first I didn’t recognize the house. But my memory was for the house in 1967. No mulberry tree that I could see, and the grape vines were long gone. But I did find the gravestone in the house across the street. 🙂

I was going through some of my older photos this morning and saw this one. It shows a mixture of leaf colors surrounded by blurred images of other leaves that are further along in the process.

That’s sort of how I feel these days. I’m over 50. AARP keeps sending me these annoying reminders that I haven’t joined them yet. I know the leaves are turning for me in my life. The prettiest colors are in the fall. Here’s to being a scarlett leaf in the grand scheme of life.

Sisters

Gracie and Aly are 9 years apart in age, which is quite a gap. Aly does really well with having a little sister, but there are times when the age gap is a problem. Big sister wants her things left alone, and little sister thinks all things belong to her. 🙂

But on that day, the two of them colored while I attempted to get some client work done. Gracie didn't try to eat the crayons, and Aly wasn't freaked out about Gracie coloring in "her" notebook.

Now there is a baby brother.. Gracie has to learn how to share. She's 18 months older than Brandon. It's been harder for her to adjust. Aly at least understood about a new baby coming. Gracie has issues with blankets and nuks. All must belong to her.
Things are looking up. Gracie is starting to acept Brandon. Still, all blankies belong to her..

Aly and I attend a local church that is literally up the street from us. It would be considered a missionary church, with about 35-45 regular attendees.

Here you see the kid's group There is also a group of four teens.

Pastor Mike (or Paster Starbuck as Becky calls him) talks to them about the 10 commandments. You can see various levels of engagement going on. Most of the kids are paying attention. 🙂

Here's a quick snapshot of Alyssa at the park. She's quite the poser. When I was taking some pictures tonight, she'd pose and say.. "Grandma, take my picture now.. and again.. and don't miss this one."

Now Gracie starts to pose once the camera comes out. 🙂

We try to take the girls to the park two or three times a week in the evening. The first thing out of Gracie's mouth when seeing poppa is PARK!!

Once we get there, we have to do things in order. The baby swings first. Then the slides.. and eventually it is time to go and the tears start.
